For you Lynette

Oh dear. I am very afraid of blogging. I am only doing this for Lynnette because I love her. I hate to write, but I love to read!

My title was taken from Ralph's last talk with Isabel

Her Generous Mistake: Isabel Archer comes to England with her Aunt sure to be a success in society. She adamantly declines the offers of marriage from the great Lord Warburton and a the passionate (and persistent) American, Goodwood. Due to her admiring cousins influence Isabel inherits a large fortune from her Uncle.  Through the schemes of Madame Merle and her ex-paramour, Osmond, Isabel and Osmond are married and Isabel's life turns tragic. Her husband does not love her and is only using her for her money and status. Isabel finally admits to Ralph on his deathbed that she is unhappy, she does not know where to turn until Goodwood throws himself at her again and she runs away from him.

I thought the climax was when we learned that MM and Osmond were lovers and that Pansy was their child in chapter 51, but I like Lynette and Austin's arguments for the climax being at the bench with Goodwood at the end too. I need to explore that some more, any thoughts? Where is Amy on this? I can't remember what she said and I want her title up on this blog ASAP :)

I also want to hear more about what people thought about MM and Osmond's relationship. Didn't someone say that they thought MM hated Osmond and she was only doing all this for Pansy? Lets find some quotes...

  1. Thanks Amanda! You'll get over your phobia as I did. Soon your "bad" grammar, "pour" spelling and unwanted opinions will be all over the internet, as are mine. HA!
